On February 17, 1992, Armenians invaded Garadagli village of Khojavend district and committed genocide against civilians. 118 people of this old Azerbaijani village with more than 800 people were taken hostages, 33 people were killed.
The Armenians threw all the murdered and injured village inhabitants into the farm well and covered with soil. In general, 68 of the captives were killed, 50 were released from captivity with great difficulty. 18 people, including five women from survivors, died later due to heavy injuries. Violence against the slaves, treatment with vandalism actions, cutting people\’s heads, burying alive, withdrawing teeth, keeping hungry and thirsty, killing by beating is a crime committed against humanity. As a result of disaster, four people out of each two families and two or three people out of six families were killed. 43 families lost their head of the family, two parents of a family were killed, 146 children were orphaned. 91 people in Garadagli village– 1 person out of every 10 village resident was killed. Of those killed, 21 were elderly and aged people, ten were female, and eight were schoolchildren.
