Azerbaijani soldier Tural Abdul oglu Hashimli (1988), who died while preventing an armed provocation by the Armenian army over the night from 24 to 25 February, was laid to rest in the Alley of Martyrs in his hometown Ordubad, on February 28.
The funeral was attended by state and government representatives, deputies of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, authorities and staff of Ordubad region Executive Power, officers of the Army Special Forces and the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription, fellow soldiers, public representatives, thousands of locals, naxcivantv.az reported.
Speakers at the funeral extended their condolences to the martyr’s family members and relatives, and said that blood of our heroic sons who died while defending Motherland will not waste in vain, we will take severe revenge on enemies and our occupied territories will be set free soon.
The soldier was laid to rest after given a three-volley salute and played national anthem of Azerbaijan. Bunches of flowers were placed on the grave and a wreath was laid. The Azerbaijani national flag covering the coffin was presented to the soldier’s family.
Those attending the crowded funeral paid their last respects to the brave son of the village of Dirnis while chanting slogans such as “Garabagh is ours, and will be,” “The martyrs are immortal, the motherland is indivisible!”
